The Authenticity Premium: Why Human Creativity Will Matter Even More in the Age of AI
Chief Creative Strategist Relevance
For most of my career, content was the scarce resource. Today, we are moving rapidly toward a very different reality.
AI hasn’t replaced production yet, at least not everywhere. In markets like Greece, human creativity still leads the work. But the direction is clear: production is becoming easier, faster, and more automated by the month.
What we are approaching is not the end of creativity. It is the beginning of artificial abundance. And in that environment, authenticity will stop being optional.
When production becomes easy, belief becomes hard.
Marketing has always chased attention. But as production accelerates, attention becomes cheaper and more fragile. What will become scarce is not content, but belief. Even today, audiences are already learning to scroll past messages that feel interchangeable.
As generative tools become more common, the silent questions will only grow louder: Was this created with intent? Is there real thinking behind this? Does anyone actually stand behind it?
AI won’t kill creativity, but it will challenge us to stop confusing output with value.
Authenticity still starts with emotion, but it can be reinforced. For years, authenticity in branding was built through storytelling, that connected emotionally with real human pains and aspirations. That remains fundamental.
What’s changing is that, as content production becomes easier and more automated, some brands will have an additional opportunity: to reinforce emotional trust by exposing parts of their creative process.
AI can already replicate tone and emotional cues. What it cannot replicate convincingly is intent: the thinking, judgment, and responsibility behind a message.
Brands that are ready to show who stands behind their content, why it exists and how it was shaped won’t replace emotional storytelling. They will strengthen it.
As production scales, these signals won’t matter to everyone. But for brands that choose to use them, they can become a meaningful advantage.
The coming rise of the human signal.
As automation increases, certain human qualities will quietly become more valuable:
- Taste instead of volume
- Judgment instead of optimisation
- Point of view instead of neutrality
- Context instead of keywords
AI will increasingly handle execution. Human creativity will shift towards direction, selection and meaning.
The creative role will not disappear, but it will evolve. Creativity will be measured less by how much we produce and more by what we choose not to produce.
Authenticity, in this sense, is not an aesthetic. It’s the result of deliberate decisions.
A final thought.
“The next era of marketing will not be defined by how much content we can produce, but by how clearly we can signal meaning, responsibility and belief.”
We are not fully there yet. But we are close enough to prepare. And in a world where more and more can be generated, what we choose to stand behind will matter more than ever.
That is the authenticity premium.
